Noble Press: Our Most Anticipated Games of E3 2012
Dishonored
Bethseda is at it again! Teamed up with Arkane Studios a developer who assisted with BioShock 2. Dishonored looks to be the assassin game I have been longing for. I could personally live without this time period but I give it a pass due to all of the awesome steampunk-ish environments.
I am the only person I know that did not fall in love with BioShock and Assassin’s Creed and I am not sorry about it. Dishonored looks like it plays like a pleasurable mix between the two games. Not to mention the giant Half Life walker looking guards we saw in the trailers. Hopefully Dishonored will fill the gaping hole I have that is longing for a good first person shooter.

The only drawbacks I see with this game are the terrible blood effects… boo on that tip Bethseda. Other than that the story feels compelling from the maybe ten minutes of footage we have seen of this game. I cant wait to get my hands on this title.

Dead Space 3
Dead Space and Dead Space 2 slapped the bad taste of survival horror games right out of my mouth. Boasting a (now) lonely engineer forced to ‘Master Chief’ his way out of horrific shenanigans, all-the-while battling his own sanity. Oh, how I’ve missed Isaac Clarke. I want to see Isaac get to the bottom of this whole marker business while decapitating some Unitologist psychopaths. So many loose ends need to be tied up before we can feel complete.

Whats strange is that this time around (in some claustrophobic situation that attracts cults) you can play some co-op with your best bro. Visceral knew how to create an atmosphere completely void of hope and having another person join my spooky space adventures sounds unappealing. EA, please do not ruin this game! It could be the next gaming masterpiece.
I’m not even sure Dead Space 3 will be at E3 this year, but if it does make an appearance, you know I’ll be watching the demo until it’s release. And remember, it’s all in Isaac’s head.

The Underdog: Star Wars 1313
Strange to call any Lucas product an Underdog, but as of recently most of their products are recieveing the sharp point end of the stick and with no remorse. SWTOR was flop, in my book, and all the other family friendly games pumping out of Lucas has me bored to death.
But its simple, I love me some Star Wars and I love me some bounty hunters. Star Wars 1313 follows a bounty hunter working the underground sector of Coruscant named… you guessed it 1313. Why am I so excited about this game? Coruscant is amazing! Remember Episode 2, that epic flying transport chase with Jango Fett, Obi-Wan, and Anakin? I want in on that action! I wanna chase rebel scum and hunt them for credits!
Count me all in for this title. I believe that LucasArts might actually pull this one out of the bag.

Nintendo shows off a Wii U Pro Controller [E3 2012]
I know most of the hardcore, or “Pro”, gamers out there are not excited about the new Wiipad. On most levels nether am I and I love weird gadgets that have no point. So for all of us that cry out for help Nintendo has taken it upon them selves to create a “Pro” controller. The Pro controller nixes the screen and adds a sleek form and dual joysticks. Reminds me of the Nintendo 64 controller meets a very ugly Xbox 360 variant.
I am happy that we don’t have to deal with some bad 3rd party substitute…

Nintendo Wii U controller named ‘Wiipad’ [E3 2012]
In an early E3 press conference Nintendo officially announced their Wii U controller coined the Wiipad. The controller at a glance looks very similar but if you dive into the details you will see that Nintendo took their time to optomise the controller for better game play.
During the press conference they showed a pitch video of an over eager 20 something playing a zombie game on his Wii U. He fails and automatyicvally sets up his Wiipad to make a call to his geriatic companion. Clearly Nintedno is trying to make it obvious that the Wii U is mean to bridge the gap between generations. He gathers some feed back about how to finish the boss that he combating ends his call and jumps right back into the game.
Now… this would be brilliant if the community was like this. I for one would not want to call a random old man in a perfectly light room to ask questions about my zombie slaying adventure. But that’s just me.
Nintendo is doubling down on social networking and leveraging the Wiipad as a “social window” to the community. They have even gone as far as to create an web app that connects into their social network. They believe that the family and friends are an important element of their gaming experience.

Microsoft and Nokia Trolling Google?
If you have been following Noble Press, you are well aware that there has been a series of “patent battles” between Microsoft, Samsung, HTC, Apple, and others. If not, you can read this to help catch up. These battles are part of a larger “patent war” that is going on between the big three mobile giants; Windows Phone, iOS, and Android. I personally believe that these “patent wars” ultimately hinder innovation as software developers have to been constantly on guard, and in debt to the larger companies that own the intellectual property which the developer is trying to improve or spin off of. Unfortunately, these wars show no signs of slowing down.
Google, who is usually on the receiving end of the subpoena, is finally stepping up to get on the offensive. On Thursday Google filed their own anti-trust complaint in European courts, accusing Microsoft and Nokia of trolling. No not this trolling, this trolling:
“Nokia and Microsoft are colluding to raise the costs of mobile devices for consumers, creating patent trolls that sidestep promises both companies have made. They should be held accountable, and we hope our complaint spurs others to look into these practices.”
Ooh ouch. Google is accusing Microsoft and Nokia of making back alley deals with a company called Mosaid, who have become sort of infamous for their tendency to sue anyone who infringes on their WiFi patents. According to the accusation, M$ sand Nokia are handing over some 1,200 wireless-related patents in order to get their hands on some of the revenue generated from future lawsuits.
If this is truly the case then Microsoft and Nokia actually are trying to troll Google in an attempt to scare device manufacturers into using Windows Phone over Android or risk the consequences. [Insert Evil Laugh Here]

‘Tomb Raider: Crossroads’ Trailer [E3 2012]
Tomb Raider turns survival horror meets Uncharted? Count me in. If the Hunger Games has taught us anything there is nothing like a hot chick playing Survivor. This game looks serious it looks as though no holds were placed on the story telling mechanisms or gruesome nature of its game play.
I was never a fan of the original Tomb Raiders, I played them, but they never really got me going. This on the other hand looks like it should be a great game with a decent story. How do you guys feel about the reboot of the franchise?
