First Impressions: Nintendo 3DS XL [Comic-Con 2012]
[dropcap]I[/dropcap] had a chance to get my hands on the new Nintendo 3DS XL today at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge here at Comic Con. It was a blast to say the least and that’s just talking about getting away from th herds on the floor and enjoy Nintendo’s space at the Marriot. Nintendo had various demos on showcase, including a few unreleased titles. This unrealsed titles consisted of but were not limited to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
The 3DSXL I was able to play with was the red colored model. It is a big improvement from the smaller version. The handheld feels more durable. The outer case has a matte texture versus the original gloss. The face buttons are not tremendously bigger but the size difference is noticeable. The analog stick is the only face button that seems to not have change in size.
The screen is what stands out the most. The design of the top screen is significally thinner giving the device a sleek frame. I feel that the enlarged screen improves the quality of the picture.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here are still a lot of other things we wanted to try out with the XL but we will have to wait for its full release in August. Make sure you stay tuned in for the full review next month.
