Apple patents its own…gaming controller
The internet’s been buzzing today about an iOS video game controller patent made by Apple. The controller design represented here have a stark resemblance the PS3 Dual Shock and is intended to integrate with and control Apple devices including iPhones and Apple TV. The patent also indicates a potential universal remote functionality to come in the future, implementing near field communication for IPhones to connect to various household appliances, as well as video game consoles.
With Julie Uhrman’s proposed Ouya and Valve’s still-rumored Steam Box, it would be no surprise for Apple to jump right into the market. I love the idea of gaming becoming more accessible and reaching broader audiences, but I can’t help but foresee an imminent console flood on the horizon.
Stay tuned as more news on this interesting concept surfaces
