‘Final Fantasy’ now on Android

Final Fantasy has made its way into the Play store. You can pick up the classic, that started it all, for $6.99. This is not your fathers Final Fantasy. Much like its iOS counterpart the game has been updated with a touch-optimized control layout and has slight graphical updates.

Currently the game is pulling a 3.6 out of 5 on the review scale in the Play store. Lets see what some of the comments have said.

Hey what can I say, its FF. I hate the license check which means I can’t play it w/o wifi. but w/e. - Pete

I Bought this game in hopes of building my game library since I have a long flight from Afghanistan going back to america in a few day. But unfortunately this great game was ruined by two simple facts. One, it requires a connection everytime you, and sometimes itll tell you that you didn’t purchase the game. So there goes my hope of playing this game on the 14 hour flight. Two the screen is cropped down to the size of an iphone game. I was hoping to see it take advantage of the Galaxy Note’s huge screen. Would be 5 stars if it wasn’t for these simple facts, but the connection issue alone takes away 4 stars. Square Enix you know better, but i guess they just wanted to hurry and release something, but please update. - Darren

Definitely disappointed like several others that this is just a lazy iOS port. I have this fancy new Galaxy S3 with a pretty screen, and i got these awesome 1 inch black borders on the right and left side to remind me the game wasn’t meant for my phone. My biggest gripe with the app (almost made me get a refund) is the stupid license check when starting it up!!! Great, so when im on an airplane and have no access to data or wifi connection, guess im not playing this huh? You can do better than this SE….. - Jason

I have a few questions that I would like you to answer:

  • Do you think older games should be ported into current generation handheld?
  • Do you believe it is the game developers task to build a game for the obnoxious amounts of displays that can be found on an Android device?

The least they could have done is fill that “black border” with a nice graphic. Though I would personally rather play this than Angry Birds.
